Can communism exist, if so in what capacity?

as a communist myself i ask this question to further examine both sides of the coin. i do not believe there are any examples of true communism in the real world, there are simply cases where the ideology has been used to manipulate the people, such as in north korea and cuba. constructive feedback please.
