Macbook (2006) Won't turn on or charge !?

So yesterday my mom found an old white Macbook (2006) at work in a recycle bin, and had permission to take it. She said it was working for the first half hour, but then it shut off. When she brought it home we tried plugging our newer Macbook Pro's charger into it, but it faintly blinked green. I also noticed if you press the button on the back of the battery it blinks green, which means it has a low battery. I''m wondering what is wrong with it? I would love to have it power on and charge...
